A Gentleman’s Guide to Buying Cashmere

Originally posted on AmericanDapper:

Cashmere is hands down, one of the softest, most elegant fabrics that exists. I have several cashmere pieces in my wardrobe, and hold them in the highest regard, treasuring them as I do my 30-year-old scotch, my favorite Persol sunglasses, and my Hermes statement belt.

That is to say, I truly believe that cashmere is a worthy investment, however the fabric can be pricey, so there are certain things that you must keep in mind when choosing a cashmere piece for your collection.

Check the labels. The Federal Trade Commission states that all cashmere products must be accurately labeled, and thus only pure cashmere can be labeled “100 percent Cashmere”. Cashmere blends must include a percentage of fibers, thus if you don’t see a tag indicating the cashmere content, walk away.
Choose a tight knit. The looser the cashmere is woven or knitted, the more wary you should be…

OOTD : Sweet and Casual

Originally posted on zoëana fashion:

I paired my Urban Outfitters Kitty Dress with a Johnstons of Elgin Cashmere knit sweater and thin thigh-high socks from Free People.

My Red Velvet Doc Martens went perfectly with this laid back yet cute style, and to accent it, I threw on a few red accessories, including red nail polish, lipstick (Kat Von D has the BEST red lipstick at Sephora), and a red beaded necklace.

Yarn yarn yarn yarn!

Hi all,

I’ve been so inundated with school work and haven’t had a lot of time to work on projects and haven’t had anything fantastic I’ve wanted to talk about lately, so sorry about that. The semester is finishing up soon so I’ll have more free time. I actually have a [mostly] finished sweater that I just need to sew buttons on to and fix the shoulder seams and then it is complete! I find that the hardest part of a project is the finishing details. So much fiddling around! I prefer just knitting row after row like a lawn mower, RRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrr… especially if it’s a cool lace or cable pattern.

Also, it is my birthday coming up soon as well and my lovely parents gave me my gifts early….

Autumn 2014 Wish List

Originally posted on The Lilly Mint Blog:

Time for another one of my seasonal wishlists! I actually have far more than this on my wish list right, but these are some of my favourite pieces for Autumn 2014. I honestly have so many things that I have my eye on right now, both makeup and fashion items. I’m loving so many of the new colours and styles of clothing that are coming out for this autumn, and I am absolutely stoked that Radiant Orchid is the colour of 2014. I love anything purple toned and while it’s a colour I don’t own a lot of, I think that will change this year!

Did you do this to your hair in the 90s?

The answer is, probably. We all looked dodgy in the 90s – just look at Justin Timberlake – which makes it all the more incredible that the decade is back in fashion.

From pictures of Kim Kardashian sporting pedal pushers in LA, to the Caterpillar boots worn at New York Fashion Week, those looks we’d pushed to the back of our minds and wardrobes are bubbling up under the surface again.

And it’s only a matter of time before even those terrible 90s hairdos make a comeback. Admit it, you were just thinking that Rachel cut really used to suit you.

But before you book the appointment at Toni & Guy, here’s 10 things we did to our hair in the 90s that we lived to regret.
